Pregnancy is an important time and there is no better way to celebrate it than with a portrait photography session!
When is the best time for a maternity session?
How big would you like your baby bump to be in your photographs? I recommend anytime between 29 and 36 weeks.
I don’t recommend scheduling after your 36th week. Labor often comes early and you don’t want to miss this photography opportunity.
And yes, this does happen!
Where should your maternity session location be?
Maternity locations can be just about anywhere you’d like, the beach is beautiful, the mountains can be amazing, OR any place that has special meaning to you.
I know many great locations in the Inland Empire and throughout Southern California, but I am happy to travel to someplace special to you.
Please let me know if you have a location in mind or if you would like me to make suggestions.
What to wear for your maternity photos? Something to show your bump!
Loose maternity clothing may be comfortable but often doesn’t present well in pregnancy portraits. Pregnancy portraits are about showing off your baby bump so when it comes to picking out what to wear for your maternity portraits, remember tight clothing is generally going to look better.
Special maternity clothing for your photo session is available in so many places online and in stores. Wonderful frilly dresses, and long trains that will blow in the wind, are just a few of the options you can find for your maternity session. Since maternity sessions are so special it is important to choose clothing that makes you joyful, and that you wanna look at for years to come.
Family, partners, kids, and/or pets?
I’m often asked if it is OK to include family or other special people in the photography session, my answer is “yes please.” What can make such a special moment better, including your favorite people, yes that includes your animal people.
I always photograph a lot of different groupings, so you will have photographs alone and with whoever you bring.
How do I show my maternity portraits?
Portraits of maternity are so beautiful and so special and sometimes very intimate. You may be wondering how to display your maternity portraits. Many of my clients ask me this very question.
I recommend having an album made so that you have a keepsake you can enjoy and look at whenever you want to remember this special time in your life. Many of my clients will also choose to have some of their favorite images printed to hang in their bedroom, nursery, or around the home.
